Doubleheader Saturday Showcases Olympia’s Local Soccer Talent
Two of FC Olympia’s community driven squads will take the field Saturday afternoon for a thrilling doubleheader at South Sound Stadium giving fans the opportunity to support some of the region’s top high school, collegiate, and graduate pro-am talent.

EPLWA Men
The double begins at 4:00PM with Trevor Fetbrandt’s Evergreen Premier League (EPLWA) men’s team. The team features a roster packed with current college standouts and local products as the Artesians continue building one of the strongest player pathways in the South Sound. The team was just short of a playoff spot but took home the first annual Captains Cup Rivalry Trophy over Port Orchard after beating them 4-1 at home and drawing away.
“Amazing work we got done this season” said Men’s coach Trevor Fetbrandt. “The guys were in a race for a playoff spot but came up just short. The team is positive and they know what they deserve and proud of their play and integrity.”
CPL Women
At 6:30PM Kurt Gress’ Cascadia Premier League (CPL) women’s team closes out the evening. Led by an experienced group of veterans and emerging young talent, the squad embodies the club’s commitment to player development while providing a competitive environment for local athletes to continue their careers.
The women are currently waiting on another fixture to see if they can make it into the CPL Playoff for the third time in a row having won the league in 2024 and runner up in 2025.
“I enjoy giving every player the most opportunities possible to learn and grow” said Women’s Head coach Kurt Gress. “They may experience hardships, struggles or setbacks, but they need to know that you have their back. The learning environment is based on trust.”
“From my experience working the past two summers with FC Olympia, is I have the utmost respect for the seasoned veteran players like Sara Peterson & Niki Covert who really take their commitment to their team and this program seriously” said Gress. “The younger ones are fortunate to have these women as their role models and I hope they pay attention to what they have to offer.”
Kurt Gress | CPL Women’s Coach Bio
Kurt Gress brings more than three decades of coaching experience to FC Olympia, along with a lifelong passion for developing players both on and off the field.
A standout goalkeeper at Eastern College (St. Davids, Pennsylvania) Gress was a three-year starter and earned NCCAA Division II All-American honors in 1991. He continued his playing career professionally with the Charlotte Eagles of the USISL for two seasons.
With more than 30 years of coaching experience Gress has worked at nearly every level of the game, including recreational, select, premier, Olympic Development Program (ODP), high school and collegiate soccer. He holds a USSF B License and has completed more than 500 hours of continuing coaching education.
Trevor Fetbrandt | EPLWA Men’s Coach Bio
Trevor Fetbrandt continues to lead FC Olympia’s EPLWA side after building an extensive coaching résumé across the Pacific Northwest. He brings three years of youth club coaching experience, four years coaching high school varsity boys soccer and five years coaching at the high school girls varsity level.
Now in his second season as FC Olympia’s EPLWA head coach after serving one year as an assistant Fetbrandt has also spent two seasons on the FC Olympia USL League Two coaching staff helping develop players for the club’s pathway to the senior level. His commitment to player development has made him an integral part of FC Olympia’s progression from youth to pre-professional soccer.

EPLWA Men’s Team Spotlights:
Evan Faulkner | Defender, EPLWA
- Evan Faulkner has quickly emerged as one of FC Olympia’s brightest young defenders. The center back is coming off an impressive freshman campaign at Portland Community College, where he earned NWAC All-Star honors after starting throughout his first collegiate season. In his first year with FC Olympia, Faulkner has started every EPLWA match and recently made his USL League Two debut, showcasing his composure and defensive presence against top-level competition.
Kenta Yumoto | Midfielder
- Japanese international Kenta Yumoto has become a key figure in FC Olympia’s midfield during his first season with the club. The incoming South Puget Sound Community College freshman is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder (No. 6), box-to-box midfielder (No. 8), or attacking midfielder (No. 10). Yumoto has been named to the EPLWA roster for every match this season and has twice worn the captain’s armband, highlighting his leadership and consistency.
Kai Pahl | Defender
- Entering his senior season at Saint Martin’s University, Kai Pahl returns for his second year with FC Olympia after continuing to establish himself as one of the club’s most versatile players. Primarily a right back, Pahl has the ability to play virtually anywhere on the field. Last fall he appeared in 17 matches, making eight starts for the Saints, while also representing Guam internationally. His experience and flexibility make him an invaluable piece of the FC Olympia squad.
