USL W Exit Playoff, USL Men’s Matches Boast Family Fun

USL Women of FC Olympia flew to Stockton, CA to compete in the opening round of the National Playoff on Independence day on a 90 degree day. The outcome came up short with a 2-1 loss with some great through ball play to the top forward in the USL W (Seven Castain, 14 Goals, Utah United).

Arguably the other best forward in the USL, Ginny Lackey (11 Goals, FC Olympia) scored in the 55th minute on a pass just beyond the defenders reach from Hana Mizumoto (USC).

Utah United would go on to beat Stockton Cargo in the USL W West Coast Championship and clinch the USL National SemiFinal.

Back in Olympia, WA the USL Men continued their 4-game home series against longtime border rival the Tacoma Stars. The Artesians would net 5 goals as the visiting Stars currently sit dead last in the USL League Two Northwest Division.

Callum Shillington scored two goals meanwhile Michael Divano, Diego Righi and Jake Simson each scored one. The Stars would capitalize on a defensive, goalkeeping miscommunication on a cross but the 5-1 margin proved to be too much for Tacoma.
