The Artesian women hosted USL W League newcomer the West Seattle Rhodies at home on Saturday in front of a raucous pop-up stadium crowd of 400 guests. The rhodies featured some familiar faces including Peyton Chick who played in over half of the fixtures for FC Olympia in the 2024 USL W campaign and an appearance in the national playoff victory over Oakland Soul July 2024 in California.

The Artesian Women spent most of the first half on their heels with West Seattle pressing into the Rhodie attacking third. Faith Nguyen (Texas Tech) got her third starting goalkeeper nod of the season and made three fantastic saves to keep FC Olympia even until the 31st minute. Olympia’s Ginny Lackey would make a break into the Rhodie defense and scored the first goal of the game adding to her already impressive nation leading sixth goal on the season.
It was an especially tough three minutes for West Seattle following the Lackey goal as the Artesians marched immediately back to the Rhodies penalty box and slotted a Chelsea Wagner goal but a collision sent West Seattle goalkeeper Madi Munguia out of the match injured.
The Rhodies would shorten the margin in the 54th minute with a goal from Lucy Newlin but the Artesian defense and two-goal first half proved to be the difference.
FC Olympia continues to sit in first place atop the USL W Northwest Division at 9 points with Salmon Bay in second with 7 points (2-0-1) and West Seattle Rhodies (1-1-1) in third with 4 points. Tacoma, Lane and Bigfoot close out the bottom half of the table.
Next match for the USL Women of FC Olympia is home against the Tacoma Galaxy on Saturday June 7 at 6:00PM. Tickets are available at fcoly.com

FC Olympia and the USL League Two men’s franchise had positive points in each of the two games over the weekend. The first match was a 0-0 draw against new Portland Pickles soccer spinoff the Bangers at a 1100 person sold out crowd in Portland, Oregon.
The Artesians battled for the full 90 minutes and had a smattering of opportunities as well as Portland but the defense for both sides held up any offensive action Friday night. Both teams came away with one point each.
The scoring melee would occur on Sunday when the Artesians would get their first win of the season in West Seattle, Washington against Junction FC. The Artesians went down early with a goalkeeper error in the first minute when Leif Hunter took a large touch on an early goal kick pass and was challenged on the end line and the ball was tackled into the back of the goal for an early Junction 1-0 lead.
Junction would go on to score another goal off a free kick minutes later from a cross to extend their lead 2-0. FC Olympia battled back as former Junction athlete Michael Divano secured two goals before halftime for the Artesians.
FC Olympia would go on to score three more goals and win 5-4 against Junction to get their first three points on the 2025 season.
Goals were scored by Michael Divano (2), Yuta Shimazu, Cris Lozano and Allen Mabia with the game winning header from a cross from Manny Nicasio.
The 4 point weekend helps FC Olympia climb out of last place and in to the middle of the pack at #5 in the USL League Two Northwest Divison.

The USL Men continue their long road trip series next weekend against Midlakes (Friday June 6) and Snohomish United (Sunday June 8). Both clubs have found early success while Ballard FC remains in first place.
