Herrera & Glavin No Stranger to Arena Soccer

The Artesians had made the playoffs two seasons in a row previously losing to Bellingham United in the semifinals last time out in 2023-24.
“Artesian leadership had reached out to each previous artesian arena coaches that had last coached matches for us in the WISL before the indoor shutdown by Evergreen to gauge if they wanted to return to coach” said President Ryan Perkins. “Having done our due diligence and gotten all interested parties feedback we have our staff now in place and look forward to the future and thrilled to see Glavin and Herrera get ready to put together an ensemble cast of regional players to compete.”
Matt Herrera has experience overseeing the men’s program, including playing as an Artesian for several years. Herrera was even inducted into the “Oly Arena Legends” Hall of Fame back in 2022. Same with the likes of Willie Spurr, Kyle Wiese, Matt Stalnik and Josh Dube. Records and incredible multi year efforts can be viewed on our Oly Legends & Stats Page at fcoly.com.
James Glavin has extensive time with the Tacoma Stars Reserves and South Sound FC and embodies much of what the Artesians look to build on and that’s great people and winning attitudes. Glavin resides in Tumwater, WA with his family and will be a great local addition to the Artesian coaching staff.

With an emphasis on developing local talent and creating viable college and adult women’s soccer opportunities, Hanson will look to grow and build this season.
“Brad’s forte is indoor soccer, more so than outdoor” said Club President Ryan Perkins. “The amount of studying and playing indoor that Brad’s done is extensive. Indoor soccer style of playing brings Brad pure joy, to the point where I could see him helping run the WISL league some day.”
Continuing Artesians Indoor Traditions
The coaching announcements come during an exciting period for FC Olympia as the organization continues expanding its year around soccer opportunities through outdoor stadium soccer and indoor arena competition. The opening of a brand new indoor soccer facility in Tumwater, WA brings a lot of great soccer opportunities to the region once again.
The Artesians have been part of the South Sound indoor soccer community since 2014 providing space for adult players, college athletes and aspiring professionals to compete in an energetic, fast-paced environment.
The club also looks forward to reconnecting with its indoor soccer supporters and continuing to build a strong community atmosphere around Artesians matchdays.
