Soccer fans across the South Sound are in for a memorable weekend May 29-31 as FC Olympia hosts two of the top teams in the nation in a pair of marquee USL matchups at the Regional Athletic Complex in Olympia, Washington.
The excitement begins Friday night when the FC Olympia women welcome the #1 ranked West Seattle Rhodies for a 7:00PM kickoff. Fans can arrive early and enjoy the club’s popular Happy Hour Beer Garden beginning at 6PM where discount beers and a garden replica jersey raffle will take place.

The Rhodies enter Olympia undefeated and riding high after a statement 2-1 victory over Salmon Bay FC (Ballard FC’s women’s side) last weekend. FC Olympia meanwhile has found strong form of its own coming off a draw and a victory over Tacoma and Bigfoot FC in USL W play. Rhodies feature a plethora of UW Huskies women’s team players as well as standout all-american players from across the NCAA women’s college soccer landscape.
The Artesians are expected to receive a major boost with the arrival of Azul Alvarez goalkeeper for the Mexico National Team program and Baylor University. Olympia will also look to continue its attacking success behind standout scorer Laney Smith the University of Dayton standout and East Coast All-American who has been among the club’s most dangerous offensive threats this season.
With two talented squads and national rankings on the line Friday night’s showdown promises to be one of the most exciting women’s matches of the summer.

Old Rivals: Ballard Comes to Oly Sunday
The action continues Sunday when the FC Olympia men host longtime NW USL League Two rival Ballard FC currently ranked #2 in the nation across the entire USL landscape from coast to coast.
The rivalry between Olympia and Ballard dates back to 2022 and has consistently featured future professionals, Division I standouts and some of the best talent in the Pacific Northwest. Sunday’s match is expected to continue that tradition.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for another Happy Hour Beer Garden, opening one hour before kickoff. The club will also host several family friendly activities including an inflatable soccer field while fans can enter raffles for replica FC Olympia jerseys in beer garden and a venue wide raffle for a signed Lamar Neagle Seattle Sounders jersey.
FC Olympia enters the contest looking to bounce back after a tough road loss to the Tacoma Stars. The Artesians recently earned a home victory over West Seattle Junction and will rely on leading scorer Michael Davano who has already netted three goals this season as they seek a signature upset over one of the nation’s elite clubs.
