FC Olympia Unveils New Schedule, Venue, Staff & Kit Teaser

OLYMPIA, WA – The Artesians on Tuesday along with the rest of the USL national soccer market unveiled the 2025 summer soccer schedule for USL League Two (USL2, Men) and USL W League (USLW, Women). The schedule features new clubs from around the Pacific Northwest states including some familiar clubs missing from the table. Here we take a look at the summer 2025 FC Olympia opponents, new coaches, new venue and a fun new kit teased.

The Clubs

The Northwest Division of USL Soccer has experienced the largest expansion in the United States which will include heavily marketed baseball team based in Portland, OR, the “Portland Pickles” adding a USL soccer team to their repertoire. The Pickles marketing office released the name “Portland Bangers” to the general public in February.

Bigfoot FC is a pop-up club as well having been formed by the owner of West Coast Goalkeeping, the largest manufacturer of goalkeeper and soccer equipment in the United States. Bigfoot will be competing in both USL Men and USL Women’s franchises.

Snohomish United is one of the largest youth soccer clubs in Washington State and has added a USL Men’s team into the mix. They have early signings with two Artesian players from 2024 (Jack Civitts and Jackson Ozburn) with both having roots with the youth side of Snohomish United.

Capital FC, formerly the “U23 Portland Timbers” have exited the USL citing a majority vote by their board to exit USL franchise soccer. The club faced many challenges being last place last year in both USL2 and USLW. United PDX who was a stalworth the last two years in both men’s and women’s soccer also bowed out of USL franchise soccer with their youth club focusing on field and complex expansion.

The schedule features a number of oddities including FC Olympia not playing Ballard twice for the first time since both Olympia and Ballard joined the USL in 2022 as the lone WA-based clubs in the United Soccer League. However the Artesians will get to face Ballard in the first game of the year at home which is sure to be a great battle.

The other oddity is a long road stretch for the USL Men in June but then a long home stand to close out the year to control their own destiny for a playoff run. Tickets are listed at $15 general admission on their ticketing platform with kid’s 12 & under in free. Season Ticket Packages for men’s and women’s franchises are also out as well as “Match Packs” which features a discount on attending three matches.

New Venue

The Artesians also announced on Monday a newly formed partnership with longtime sponsor Well 80 Brewhouse to bring a pop-up stadium environment to the lone turf, lit soccer field in Thurston County – The RAC (Regional Athletic Complex). The field is being called “Well 80 Pitch” by the Artesians and will feature an array of new amenities including closer viewing experience, beer garden, new state of the art sound system and of course only soccer lines on the field.

Since 2022 the Artesians have only played in Thurston County District Stadiums including South Sound Stadium and Blackhills High School where football lines and tracks muddy the purview.

Match days will also feature hot food concessions, coffee and dessert options as well as a designated family zone with lawn games and family fun themed nights.

USL Technical Staff

Seyti Sidibay, Head Coach | USL League Two (Men)

Kellyn Green, Head Coach | USL W League (Women)

USL Men’s Assistants | Matt Hodgson, Richard Romain-Dika, Trevor Fetbrandt, Wobi Torujo, Nate Salveson

USL Women’s Assistants | Micaela Castain, Erin Smith, Luke Comstock

“Excited about the future of our USL programs and making this a training-rich environment” said FC Olympia owner Ryan Perkins. “Not only will this be a year of great change but will also bring intentional focus and having the right people in play that are consistent, paying attention to details and never wavering from their duties.”

Some of the changes Artesian leadership is experiencing are more teams in the marketplace therefore making some FC Olympia squads more local-centric than previous years. The men’s USL franchise is 1 of 7 clubs now in 75 miles while the women’s USL team is seeing the first major expansion since 2023 with 4 new teams.

The club hired longtime local soccer coach and college athletic director Jason Prenovost as USL Technical Director and renewed the USL Sporting Director Chris Wells contract to enhance and expand operations.
