What’s it like playing your first year of USL League Two?
It has been very fun competing against players at this level. It has been a great opportunity to play in front of our home fans in Olympia as well, I love the energy they bring every game.
Where did you play growing up?
I started off playing at San Juan and ARFC at a young age, which are youth clubs in California. When I was 13 I made the move to Sacramento Republic Academy. I spent a few years there before I moved to Washington to play for Crossfire Premier where I finished my youth career. I was then blessed enough to commit to Seattle University where I am currently still playing.

Most memorable soccer moment?
My most memorable moment is definitely winning the National Championship with Crossfire my U19 year. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to finish my youth career. That is a feeling I will never forget.

Why FC Olympia in the USL League Two?
The main reason I chose FC Olympia is because of my teammates that are here with me. Trainings are always enjoyable with this group of guys and it brings out the joy of the game.

What’s a day in the life look like for Nico?
When I am not going to school or playing soccer, I am usually giving haircuts. I learned to cut hair about a year ago and it is something I enjoy very much now. It is also a good way to make some extra money as a college student.
Any good friends on the current squad?
I get along well with all of my teammates but I would have to say it is nice being reunited with all of my former Crossfire teammates, Dane, Jackson, Jack, River, Beckham, Sebastian, Enrique, Lofy, and Avary. I also enjoy getting to play with some of my Seattle U teammates throughout this summer.

What is your advice for young soccer players looking to go to the next level?
My advice for young players would be to always play with confidence and to never stop working no matter what. There will be times in sports where things aren’t going your way, but if you keep working and don’t give up on your dreams you will quickly see success.

See Nico play with the USL League Two team Friday night June 7th against Crossfire Premier at South Sound Stadium in a friendly match.
